Meet Sandhya Harpavat

Dr Harpavat practices dentistry with a “mom’s touch” getting to know her patients and understanding their needs carefully. She wants her little ones and young adults to become confident adult dental patients, excited to care for and show off their beautiful smiles. Our staff is genuinely friendly, compassionate and patient. They will take the time to help the child feel comfortable and make the experience fun and relaxed. It is heartwarming for her to see a child come in taking their very first step and grow to maturity to the time they come in to discuss college choices and first jobs!

Throughout her childhood, Dr Harpavat travelled the world with her adventurous family. She developed a passion for understanding people from diverse backgrounds and learning more about them. She knew early on that she wanted to be in healthcare and dentistry followed naturally as a wonderful blend of art and science. She graduated with honors from Marquette University while working in the community with children at risk in her spare time. She attended Harvard School of Dental Medicine. It was there that she met and married her husband, Dr Sanjiv Harpavat, now a pediatric liver specialist at Texas Children’s Hospital. During her training she was awarded a special fellowship to travel to India and Australia. In India, she worked with families in rural communities obtain better access to health care. In Australia, she had the opportunity to spend time with rural Aboriginal children and understand first hand the health problems that face their communities. These were eye opening experiences and make it clear that she should specialize in working with children and adults with special needs. She went on to receive her specialization in Pediatric dentistry from Children’s Hospital in Boston

Dr Harpavat is a board certified diplomate and fellow of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and part of their oral health chapter. She volunteers in the neighborhood spring branch schools and also with Kids meals and Autism speaks. She has special training caring for children with special needs, cleft lip and palate and complex medical issues.

Dr Harpavat has three kids, ages 18, 16 and 14 who bring lots of joy and excitement except for when they don’t brush their teeth! The whole family loves travelling together, playing outdoors, enjoying the arts and going on fantastic adventures! They recently hiked up to see an active volcano in Iceland!
